"Mirrored" is Brooklyn-based drummer Kyle Kelly-Yahner’s debut EP.

Featuring lush washes of synth pads, unfurling arpeggiators, muscular bass lines, and songful drumming, Kyle takes the rhythmic and melodic ideas orbiting in his head for the past several years and (finally) puts them on wax.

“Mirrored” features Kelly-Yahner’s distinctively lyrical drumming, alongside winding synth patterns and ascendant leads.

It’s a sound that’s equally informed by Kyle’s musical upbringing in the early aughts of D.C’s music scene where bands like Aloha, Beauty Pill, and Dismemberment Plan paired asymmetric meter with earworm melodies, as well as Kyle’s love of electronic-leaning artists from Rostam to Sylvan Esso to Flock of Dimes.

This is music for a bike ride after it rains and the heat finally breaks. It’s music you can keep on deck as a soundtrack for those moments where you’re wandering aimlessly with a coffee in hand. Maybe at this point the artist is revealing his personal habits rather than offering universal guidance. It’s your call where and how you listen. In any case, thank you for listening.
